Racism in GW
First I will start by saying I'm black (African-American) and have been playin GW for almost a year. I was just wondering why there are so many people who have a problem with black people playing the game? Especially in Pre-Ascalon, I always find a group of people who don't like black people. Why? We play the game just as well as any other person, so why is it that people have to resort to biggotry while playing the game, it's just a game. Also, there were groups of people who didn't want to get Nightfall before it came out, just because it was predominantly black NPCs and characters. In my humble opinion, I find NF to be the best Campaign of the three and think it would be a shame for any hardcore GW player to exclude NF from their collection simply because there are black NPCs and Heroes. If anyone could PLEASE elaborate on this topic for me. BUT IF YOU HAVE TO USE BIGGOTRY TO DEFEND YOURSELF, STAY OUT OF MY THREAD!!!

umm.. For the same reason that other people don't like other people because of skin color in the world...
It's just the history of the world, there isn't much you can do, but with effort, there won't be racism.. As long as you don't act in said manner..

Oh, trust me, I do. I was just wondering the logic behind it because they can't see me, and they surely can't tell by how I play, so why does it matter?

well err I don't think I have seen many acts of racism on guild wars if any and only once when someone in LA unwittingly fired off the the n word. I have a black paragon, I customised him to make him look like the guy on the back of the nightfall case and I can honestly say I never seen anyone mention anything about it and I've completed the game and have been in numerous pugs.
I think your on about the minority of this entire game because guild wars is played on an intenrational level. I have never heard about people skipping nightfall because of black npcs and heroes and I would like to know where you heard this, if you had played nightfall from release I'm sure you would have hardly noticed and to be honest who cares about those sort of people anyway.
If someone really does offends you I would suggest reporting it. Although ignore list is where its at for those idiots imo. Who cares what they think.

I don't see how race matters when you're on the internet.
If you see bigots and idiots like that, either report or ignore them.
I don't know what else you can do about it.

You'll atract bad people just by profiling it I guess. Don't think if you would go to pre dist 1 at 4PM and spam i am a jew/negro/gay/insert anything, you won't get scolded. Children will be children I guess ^^. I just play the game, and rather make fun of necro's with 15K primevil armor :P (Why would anyone like a fish suit armor come on people)

It doesn't matter, you can't let them get to you, if you do, they win. Some people are just ignorant and not raised properly, as long as you know it doesn't matter you shouldn't think too much of it, they are just ignorant.

Rise above them, Stu. You know you are better than them. Kids or not this kind of action is unacceptable in my eyes, report them if it bother you. Don't let this stuff stop you from having fun, log into the game and forget about it.
Sometime I pity them, that they are unable to face what they can never understand. There are no logic, Stu. Some people are just that, an off shot of human race.

Me and one of my best friends had the misfortune of pugging with a bunch of mental midgets, and when one of those little morons found out my friend was gay, a deluge of "HOLY CRAP IT'S A HOMO HAHAHA YOU SUCK FAGGOT HAHAHA" ensued. I told them they were flirting with disaster by talking like that (Hello, harassment policies!) and they turned on me. Their "OMG U HOMO" chants didn't really faze me (things tend to only hurt if they're true), and then all of a sudden they got really quiet. I asked my friend "You call harassment police on them?", and he said "No..." We both mapped out and never saw those idiots again. Wonder if their mommy and daddy walked in and saw the crap they were spewing. In online gaming, being gay seems to be like wearing a bullseye on your forehead. It's nearly as bad when you get called out on being a furry. 12-year olds like to mock what they don't understand and what they're afraid they might be - if you make fun of gay people, there's NO WAY you could be gay yourself, right? Idiots.
